3 Misconceptions About Formula Feeding

Aussie Bubs Infant Formula

We believe that every parent has the right to choose the feeding method that best suits their child and their family. However, there are some misconceptions and stigmas surrounding formula that some parents have reported that have left them feeling ashamed or guilty.

We’re here to set the record straight and help you feel good about your choice on what to feed your child.

Misconception #1: Formula is inferior to breastfeeding

Fact: Both breastmilk and formula provide the necessary nutrients for your baby’s growth and development. Given the option to choose, breastfeeding is recommended by leading pediatricians. However, if breastfeeding is not possible or is not part of a parent’s feeding plan, infant formulas provide excellent nutrition for your baby.

Misconception #2: Breastfeeding creates a stronger bond between you and your baby

Fact: Parents can always create a special bond with their children, and feeding - no matter how - is an amazing time to strengthen that bond.  Formula or pumped breast milk in a bottle allows an opportunity to share the feed with your partner or other caregivers so they may bond with the baby as well, strengthening the family unit.

Misconception #3: Formula causes digestive issues in babies

Fact: Formula doesn’t just automatically lead to digestive problems - in fact, some babies may even have difficulty digesting breast milk! At Bubs, we offer a range of formulas that are designed to be gentle on your baby’s tummy and promote healthy digestion.  As always, discuss any issues or concerns with your pediatrician.
