What does it take to be certified Organic?
In both the United States and Australia, the word “Organic” is an important one and not to be considered lightly. Achieving certification as an accredited Organic product is not an easy process and you should always check the products you purchase are either certified organic or are free from all the artificial additives and fillers you would expect from an organic product.
Dual Organic Certification in Australia
At Bubs, we have proudly obtained not one but two organic certifications in Australia. Through Australian Certified Organic (ACO), as well as National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia (NASAA) our dual certification ensures our products have achieved Australia’s high standards for organic farming. These third-party organizations conduct audits to ensure our farming and production practices meet organic requirements. While we are dual certified in Australia, we are currently working with the FDA and USDA to achieve our US certification.
Principles of Organic Farming
In addition, the guarantee of no genetically modified products (GMO’s) and no chemical residue, becoming accredited as an organic farm requires important principles to be followed. These include being committed to producing high-quality products and using farming techniques which reduce reliance on inputs and create a more natural approach to farming. All of which contributes to a better environmental impact on land and soils.
Organic Milk is a Precious Source
According to industry studies, less than 1% of the world’s global dairy production is from organic milk, In Australia only 0.6% of milk production is organic, and in New Zealand, this is halved to only 0.3% milk production is organic¹. Organic milk is truly a rare and precious source!
