Operation Fly Formula: One Year Later

Updates and new partnerships.

No one wants to go back to the intense days of the baby formula shortage in 2022. From increased demand to COVID-related production challenges to unprecedented supply chain disruptions, it was a terrifying time for parents of young children all over the United States.

A few key changes came out of the crisis. Parents became even more aware of the ingredients in their newborn and toddler’s formula. Questions around factory production and ingredient supply became more and more difficult to answer, and thus parents zoomed in on and became more critical of the industry as a whole (as they should).

Additionally, the amount of options that came about post-shortage have been nothing short of incredible. Parents now have more — and even cleaner — options for their little ones, and the search for quantities has become a nationwide effort for parents. The Facebook group Baby Formula Search and Swap: Parents Helping Parents is still active with over 2,000 members, and the Find My Baby Formula tool is still accepting new sign-ups.

Parents across the U.S. are still reeling from the deep days of the shortage, and while it appears to have quelled for now — data shows that stockage rates have been back to pre-shortage levels for months — there is still an issue of access for many.

At Aussie Bubs, our way of helping comes down to supply and community. Nearly one year ago, Operation Fly Formula, our company-wide mission to help supply the U.S. with formula during the crisis, provided 27.5 million bottles stateside. We were the first formula supplier to respond to the call for help, and we’re not done yet.

To show our ongoing commitment to providing a clean formula option to American families, we’ve partnered with Good+Foundation, a leading national non-profit that works to dismantle multi-generational poverty by pairing tangible goods with innovative services for low-income fathers, mothers, and caregivers, creating an upward trajectory for the whole family.

To start, we’re donating $100,000 worth of formula to the foundation, which will end up in the kitchens of thousands of families. And on Friday, April 28, you’ll find our team packing supplies at the Good+ LA Community and Training Center, building care packages with formula and other baby essentials for families in the area.

When you choose Aussie Bubs, you can be sure that you’re choosing clean label nutrition free from additives, heavy metals and GMOs. Made in Australia from whole milk, our formulas are full of all the good nutrients and free from sneaky junk like corn syrup, maltodextrin, pesticides and artificial colors.

You’re also supporting a company that fully believes in helping our neighbors, in helping to bridge gaps where we can, and throwing our full support behind communities trying to provide for each other.

From the heartland of Australia, a country that has the highest standards when it comes to infant formula, Bubs delivers unparalleled nutrition that’s as complete as breastmilk. And our values extend past nutrition and into the connections we make along the way — our Operation Fly Formula is only the beginning.
